We are recruiting for an established family-run commercial vehicle business with a busy workshop operation. You will join an approachable team with experienced technical colleagues manufacturer training and opportunities to develop your career.

We are looking for an HGV Service Technician to join an established commercial vehicle workshop in Reading. You will play a key part in keeping customers vehicles safe reliable and ready for work through accurate inspections servicing and repairs. We welcome technicians who take pride in their work and want to broaden their skills through manufacturer-supported training.

• Complete scheduled preventative maintenance inspections and routine servicing to required quality standards
• Identify faults assess roadworthiness carry out repairs and prepare heavy goods vehicles for statutory tests
• Use workshop technical information diagnostic equipment and testing procedures appropriately
• Record inspection findings defects parts and labour accurately escalating safety-critical issues promptly
• Collaborate with workshop controllers foremen and repair technicians to maintain vehicle turnaround

• At least three years hands-on HGV maintenance experience
• Relevant technical qualification or demonstrable time-served competencies
• Sound knowledge of PMIs servicing schedules braking suspension steering and roadworthiness
• Motivation to develop diagnostic and repair skills beyond routine inspections

You take pride in safe thorough servicing and accurate inspections. You are organised work well with a busy workshop team and want to build your technical skills beyond routine maintenance.

We offer:

• Basic salary up to 40000 per annum depending on experience and manufacturer certification
• Overtime paid at 28.85 per hour
• 3000 annual shift allowance
• An additional 2452 per annum for participation in the Saturday rota
• Performance-related bonus of up to 6000 per annum
• Potential OTE of 58375 including the above additions and five extra overtime hours per week when available
• A further 2000 per annum for a relevant EV qualification subject to proof of qualification

Total earnings depend on performance the applicable working pattern and overtime worked.

• 40 basic hours per week
• Alternating weekly shifts MondayFriday: 06:0015:00 and 13:0022:00
• One-hour unpaid lunch break on each shift
• One-in-three Saturday rota 08:0012:00
