In a nutshell

Creating a safe healthy and sustainable workplace is fundamental to everything we do at Virgin Atlantic. As Health Safety and Environment Manager youll play a pivotal role in protecting our people customers and operations by leading either our HSE Compliance or HSE Auditing function ensuring we meet our legal obligations while continually raising the bar on safety performance.

Reporting to the Senior Manager - Health Safety and Environment youll be working across the business in the UK with some overseas travel providing expert advice leading risk management activities and championing a positive pragmatic approach to health safety and environmental management. Youll partner with leaders regulators and operational teams to embed a strong safety culture drive continuous improvement and help ensure Virgin Atlantic remains a safe responsible and trusted airline.

Day to day

  • Leading either the HSE Compliance or HSE Auditing function ensuring robust oversight of health safety and environmental standards across Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Atlantic Holidays
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to leaders across the business supporting compliance with legislation best practice and corporate policies
  • Leading risk management activities incident investigations and safety initiatives that strengthen operational resilience and promote a positive safety culture
  • Driving audit and compliance programmes ensuring findings are addressed corrective actions are delivered and opportunities for improvement are identified
  • Building strong relationships with regulators contractors suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure consistent governance and effective collaboration
  • Leading and developing a team of HSE Officers creating an inclusive high-performing environment while driving continuous improvement across the HSE function

About You

An experienced and credible Health Safety & Environment professional youll combine technical expertise with collaborative leadership influencing people at every level to create a culture where safety is everyones responsibility.

  • A recognised NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) with Chartered IOSH status and strong knowledge of UK health safety and environmental legislation
  • Proven experience implementing and leading HSE management systems within complex multi-site or operational organisations alongside experience managing people and developing high-performing teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance operational demands risk management and regulatory compliance to make pragmatic decisions
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the confidence to influence senior leaders regulators and operational teams across a diverse business
  • A proactive resilient and improvement-focused approach with a passion for building positive safety cultures driving change and embedding best practice

Experience in aviation travel or other highly regulated industries would be advantageous but above all were looking for someone who can inspire others champion safety and help shape a culture where everyone goes home safe every day.
