Where youll be working
Join a dedicated multidisciplinary team making a genuine difference in the lives of children young people and families across the New England region. As part of the Joint Child Protection Response Program (JCPRP) youll work within a unique tri-agency partnership alongside NSW Health NSW Police and the Department of Communities and Justice to provide timely trauma-informed responses for children and young people at risk of serious harm. Based within the New England Local Health District this role supports communities across Tamworth Armidale Inverell and Moree delivering specialist health responses that promote safety recovery and wellbeing for some of our most vulnerable community members.

The Opportunity
This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced and compassionate Health Clinician to work in a highly specialised child protection service where every day brings meaningful and varied work. As part of the JCPRP Health Team youll use your clinical expertise to provide trauma-informed assessment crisis intervention and therapeutic support to children young people and their non-offending family members. Working closely with NSW Police and the Department of Communities and Justice youll contribute to coordinated responses that prioritise the safety health and wellbeing of children experiencing sexual harm serious physical abuse or extreme neglect. No two days are the same. Your role will include clinical assessment care coordination advocacy participation in multi-agency planning and collaboration with a broad network of health and community services. Youll also have opportunities to contribute to service development quality improvement initiatives education and child protection training across the district. Reporting to the PARVAN Perinatal and Paediatric Programs Manager and supported by the Senior Health Clinician youll be joining a team that values collaboration clinical excellence and continuous learning. About you
Were looking for a motivated resilient and compassionate clinician who is passionate about improving outcomes for children young people and families affected by trauma violence abuse and neglect. You bring strong clinical judgement and the ability to remain calm and effective when working in complex and sensitive situations. Youre confident working autonomously while recognising the value of collaboration and you build positive relationships with colleagues partner agencies and families to achieve the best possible outcomes for children. Youll thrive in this role if you:

• Have experience working with children young people and families experiencing trauma abuse neglect or violence.
• Deliver person-centred trauma-informed care with empathy professionalism and cultural sensitivity.
• Communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and work collaboratively across multidisciplinary and interagency teams.
• Have excellent assessment problem-solving and clinical decision-making skills.
• Are committed to continuous learning professional development and improving services for vulnerable children and families

Requirements

1. Must hold as a minimum a bachelors degree in social work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of social workers; or a four year degree in psychology being a three year degree with a fourth year honours in psychology or a qualification deemed equivalent by the employer which provides full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia; or a bachelors degree in counselling or a related field or other qualification deemed relevant by the employer.
