Role: Health Care Assistant
Academy: Outwood Academy Redcar
Start Date: October 2026
Salary (Actual Salary): 18692 - 18985 (NJC Grade 2)
Working Pattern: 32.5 Hours Per Week Monday to Friday Term Time only plus 5 days

This is a temporary role until 31/08/2027

Are you a compassionate individual dedicated to ensuring the dignity safety and welfare of students requiring personal support Join us as a Health Care Assistant providing essential domestic care and general welfare support to students with complex needs particularly around hygiene mobility and meal times. This role demands meticulous attention to safety protocols adherence to individual care plans and a non-discriminatory approach to care.

About the Academy

Outwood Academy Redcar welcomes students aged 11-16 located in the coastal town of Redcar near Middlesbrough in the North-East region.

Responsibilities

You will ensure the personal care needs of identified students are met adhering rigorously to academy policy regarding hygiene lifting and medicine administration. This includes safely using specialist equipment such as hoists and beds and assisting students with mobility for appointments or hydrotherapy sessions.

You will support students during meal times which may involve specialized procedures such as gastrostomy tube feeding and ensure medicines are dispensed precisely according to policy and individual care plans. Crucially you must report any changes or causes for concern immediately to your line manager.

Qualifications
Candidates must have or be willing to obtain a First Aid qualification when starting the role. Experience working in a care environment is essential. Crucial skills include an ability to cope with the personal and physical needs of children and young adults alongside a deep understanding of the importance of maintaining pupil dignity at all times.
The post holder must demonstrate effective communication and be fully aware of the requirement to always follow lifting and handling hygiene and dignity procedures.
