Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership management and curriculum design for the Science department across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5

• Line manage mentor and evaluate department staff and laboratory technicians to maintain high standards of teaching learning and lab safety

• Oversee the delivery of theoretical concepts and practical required investigations to secure outstanding GCSE and A-Level examination outcomes

• Expand and coordinate an extensive STEM extra-curricular program including Science Olympiads robotics teams and university masterclasses

• Maintain high safety standards across laboratory suites chemical storage rooms and equipment inventories in full compliance with CLEAPSS guidelines

• Manage the departmental budget equipment purchasing and laboratory allocation effectively

• Serve as a Form Tutor contributing to the pastoral care tracking and wellbeing of your assigned year group

• Shape whole-school STEM initiatives and academic intervention strategies

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will feature:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognized UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT)

• An honors degree in Biology Chemistry Physics or a closely related scientific discipline

• A proven track record of outstanding Science delivery across KS3 KS4 and KS5

• Demonstrated leadership capability (e.g. 2i/c Key Stage Coordinator or existing Head of Department)

• Up-to-date knowledge of CLEAPSS safety guidelines practical assessment requirements and exam board specifications

• An ambitious forward-thinking and energetic approach to departmental leadership
