The successful candidate will take full strategic responsibility for the Mathematics department driving curriculum development data tracking and pedagogical standards across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 (GCSE Higher and Foundation) and Key Stage 5 (A-Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics).

Leading a team of specialist mathematicians you will cultivate a culture of numerical fluency problem-solving confidence and academic ambition across all year groups. This is a full-time permanent position designed for a proven leader committed to educational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership vision and curriculum mapping for the Mathematics department across KS3 KS4 and KS5

• Line manage mentor and develop department staff conducting regular lesson observations and work scrutinies to maintain teaching standards

• Implement rigorous data tracking systems to monitor student progress and coordinate targeted exam preparation interventions

• Lead on the delivery of GCSE A-Level Mathematics and A-Level Further Mathematics specifications to maximize pupil attainment

• Coordinate departmental involvement in external competitions including the UKMT Mathematics Challenges and regional masterclasses

• Oversee the departmental budget digital learning software subscriptions and textbook resourcing

• Serve as a Form Tutor contributing to the holistic pastoral framework of the school

• Collaborate with Senior Leadership on whole-school numeracy strategies and academic policies

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will feature:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognized UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT)

• An honors degree in Mathematics Statistics Engineering or a closely related quantitative field

• Proven track record of outstanding GCSE and A-Level Mathematics outcomes

• Previous departmental leadership experience (e.g. 2i/c Key Stage Coordinator or experienced Head of Department)
