Job Summary

Were looking for an experienced and commercially minded Head of Legal to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide trusted legal advice across a high-profile sporting organisation helping to protect and enable the business while supporting the delivery of our strategic ambitions.
Working closely with senior leaders directors and external partners youll play a key role in guiding major commercial decisions strengthening governance and building strong relationships across the organisation. Youll thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same and where your expertise will have a direct impact on the success of Scottish Rugby.
What youll be responsible for
- Leading and developing the Legal team ensuring high-quality support across the organisation and effective management of priorities and stakeholder expectations.
- Providing expert legal advice on a broad range of matters and leading the negotiation and drafting of key commercial agreements including sponsorship media broadcasting and service contracts.
- Supporting effective governance by advising Boards and Committees providing company secretarial support and ensuring robust governance processes are maintained.
- Acting as Data Protection Lead supporting compliance activities and promoting good practice across the organisation.
- Building legal awareness and capability through training guidance and collaboration with colleagues across the business.
What were looking for
- A qualified solicitor with significant post-qualification experience gained in private practice and/or an in-house legal environment.
- Strong commercial judgement with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives while providing practical solutions-focused advice.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills with experience influencing and advising senior leaders and Boards.
- An outstanding communicator and negotiator who can build trust influence decisions and collaborate effectively across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
