Job Summary

Widener University is currently seeking a Head Womens Lacrosse Coach. Reporting to the Executive Director of Athletics the Head Coach is responsible for all aspects of the Lacrosse program as well as demonstrating commitment to the academic objectives of the University. The Head Coach teaches the sport of Lacrosse to student athletes and provides the coaching recruitment and retention of Lacrosse players. This is a full-time 10-month position.

The Head Coach will develop and manage a NCAA Division III Lacrosse program in accordance with NCAA and University guidelines. This role is responsible for all aspects of the program including but not limited to organizing and executing training and event coaching responsibilities throughout the traditional and non-traditional season. Additional responsibilities may be assigned in areas such as committee work and administrative duties.

This role is crucial in the development and sustainability of the program within the Widener University Athletic Department and the Division of Student Engagement and Transformation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

Essential Duties:

  • Develop and manage an NCAA Division III Lacrosse program in accordance with NCAA Middle Atlantic Conference and Widener University guidelines.
  • Coach and mentor individuals and team members of the Widener University Lacrosse program practice planning manage and coach non-traditional season training organize event travel meals and accommodations event scheduling for the womens program student-athlete evaluation student academic monitoring and daily operations for a Lacrosse program.
  • Responsible for staff management budget management team fundraising initiatives practice planning and game preparation coordinating team travel coordinating on and off campus recruiting athlete evaluation alumni engagement and daily operations and other related duties.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned or directed by the Executive Director of Athletics to support departmental needs and align with the mission values and goals of Athletics and Widener University.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in related field.
  • Two (2) years of progressive collegiate Lacrosse coaching experience at the Division III level or higher.
  • Valid drivers license along with a clean driving record and proof of insurability.
  • Successful experience in recruiting and retention of collegiate student-athletes and student-athlete academic monitoring.
  • Appropriate certifications in CPR and First Aid.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint) or similar platform for position related duties and communication.

Preferred:

  • Experience as a mentor to supervising assistant coaching staff.
  • Masters degree.
  • Three (3) years of progressive collegiate Lacrosse coaching experience at the Division III level or higher.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:

  • Night and/or weekend hours are required.
  • Occasional lifting of weight over 40 pounds.
