Job Summary

2 Month Contract With A Local Authority

Job Purpose

To maintain school grounds playing fields landscaped areas and external facilities to a high standard ensuring a safe clean and attractive environment for pupils staff and visitors. The postholder will operate grounds maintenance equipment undertake routine horticultural tasks and drive vehicles as required to support service delivery.




Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out grounds maintenance activities including grass cutting strimming hedge trimming pruning planting and weed control.
  • Maintain sports fields playgrounds and landscaped areas to agreed standards.
  • Operate and maintain grounds maintenance machinery and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Drive Council or company vehicles to transport staff equipment and materials between sites.
  • Undertake routine inspections of equipment and report defects or maintenance requirements.
  • Assist with seasonal grounds maintenance activities including leaf clearance and planting programmes.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety procedures and risk assessments.
  • Maintain cleanliness and security of work areas storage facilities and vehicles.
  • Respond to service requests and support schools with grounds-related issues.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the role and grade.


Requirements

Qualifications & Licences

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Relevant grounds maintenance horticulture or landscaping qualification (desirable).

Experience

  • Experience of grounds maintenance landscaping or horticultural work.
  • Experience operating grounds maintenance equipment and machinery.
  • Experience driving work vehicles and transporting equipment.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of grounds maintenance techniques and safe working practices.
  • Ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Understanding of health and safety requirements relating to grounds maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to undertake physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions.

  • Hours per Week: 45 hours
  • Pay: Bi-weekly
