Salary up toper annum plus company van & fuel card
42.5 hours per week (8-5 Monday- Friday)
About the role:
Were looking for a reliable and experienced Groundworker to join our expanding team supporting a busy social housing contract in Cambridge. This is a hands-on role focused on delivering a wide range of external works repairs and improvements across residential properties helping maintain safe functional and well-presented outdoor environments for tenants.
Youll be responsible for carrying out a variety of groundworks including paving fencing drainage concreting landscaping and the construction and repair of steps and pathways. Working in and around occupied homes youll need to be professional respectful and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship that meets both safety and service standards.
With a strong pipeline of planned and reactive work and a focus on improving housing conditions this is a great opportunity to be part of a team making a real impact in the community. Were looking for someone dependable skilled across multiple aspects of groundworks and external maintenance and confident working independently or as part of a team.
Duties:
- Carry out external repairs maintenance and improvement works across social housing properties
- Install repair and maintain paving slabs pathways and access routes
- Construct repair and reinstate concrete bases footings hard standings and other concreting works
- Install and maintain fencing gates boundary structures and associated external features
- Undertake drainage works including gulley clearing pipe repairs channel drainage and soakaway installations
- Carry out landscaping works including turfing planting garden reinstatement and general external improvements
- Construct repair and reinstate steps kerbs edgings and other external structures
- Complete minor brickwork patch repairs and reinstatement works as required
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations company procedures and site standards
- Maintain tools equipment and company vehicle in good working order
- Work respectfully in and around occupied homes maintaining a clean safe and tidy working environment
- Record job details materials used and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets
- Identify and report any additional works safeguarding concerns or property issues
- Participate in the out-of-hours emergency rota when required
- Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures
- Provide high levels of customer service and customer care at all times
Role Criteria:
- Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance within a Groundworker role
- Previous experience carrying out fencing installations and repairs
- Previous experience in drainage repairs renewals and installation works
- Experience in paving concreting landscaping and external maintenance works
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service skills with experience working in occupied homes
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices
- Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work
- Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours emergency rota
- Ability to deliver high-quality workmanship while maintaining productivity and attention to detail
