General Foreperson
Southern Water Framework Hampshire West Sussex
Were looking for a General Foreperson to join our Environment Business Division supporting the delivery of water and wastewater projects within the Southern Water Framework.
In this role youll play an important part in delivering multi-disciplinary civil engineering projects contributing to successful outcomes across programme cost safety and quality.
What youll be doing:
- Working closely with the Site Manager to coordinate and manage initial site set-up implementing Galliford Try systems and procedures
- Applying and maintaining effective methods and controls to ensure the efficient use of resources
- Leading and supporting site teams including supervisors and operatives in the delivery of civil engineering works during the construction phase
- Delivering a range of civil works including more complex activities
- Delivering briefings and toolbox talks to ensure clear communication on site
- Interpreting construction drawings and preparing accurate material take-offs
- Procuring plant and materials through the Galliford Try ORBIT procurement platform
- Preparing RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) explaining them clearly to the team and ensuring understanding of tasks
- Maintaining accurate site records including daily diaries allocation sheets plant returns and goods received notes (GRNs)
- Managing work activities in line with the programme ensuring appropriate resource levels are maintained
- Participating in weekly programme and progress meetings to provide updates and support effective delivery against targets
- Collaborating with subcontractors on site to support efficient project delivery in line with agreements
- Identifying technical issues and sharing feedback with the wider project team
- Supporting the development and continuous improvement of team members
About you:

- Experience working at General Foreperson level or in a similar role
- SMSTS certification
- First Aid qualification
- EUSR Water Hygiene certification
- CAT and Genny training
- EUSR Units 1 & 2 (Underground Safety Certification)
Desirable:
- Confine space training
- Temporary Works Supervisor or Coordinator certification
