Job Summary

Are you an experienced General Construction Operative looking for a permanent role with a company van fuel card and excellent benefits Join HMS and play a key role in delivering high-quality construction maintenance and environmental services across our communities helping to maintain safe clean and well-presented homes and neighbourhoods for our customers every day.


What You Will Be Doing:


  • Carry out a wide range of general construction activities both internally and externally across domestic and communal environments
  • Undertake property clearance environmental cleaning demolition excavation and groundworks activities as required
  • Install and maintain fencing complete painting works and support structural and remedial construction projects
  • Carry out tasks such as wallpaper stripping plaster removal and general labouring activities to support project completion
  • Assist tradespeople with construction and maintenance activities to achieve HMSs right first time objectives
  • Plan and organise work effectively making efficient use of time materials transport and plant equipment
  • Work within scheduled appointment systems liaising with customers and colleagues to ensure works are completed efficiently
  • Undertake diagnostic and pre-measuring activities to identify work requirements and support successful project delivery
  • Use IT and communication devices to receive instructions complete work orders and order materials
  • Complete all required paperwork compliance records and system updates accurately and on time
  • Drive and maintain company vehicles tools equipment and stock in a safe and professional manner
  • Manage materials effectively minimising waste and ensuring value for money
  • Work collaboratively with schedulers planners customer liaison officers contractors and colleagues across the business
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety requirements safe systems of work and company policies
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to maintain and enhance skills and competency


What Were Looking For:


  • CSCS card at the appropriate level - You will be required to provide proof if invited to attend an interview
  • Full UK or EU driving licence
  • Experience within maintenance environmental clearance property clearance or general labouring environments
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering high standards of service
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and make effective decisions when completing tasks
  • Flexible approach to work and willingness to undertake a variety of duties
  • Experience of groundworks pointing or related construction activities (desirable)
  • NVQ Level 2 in a Construction or Maintenance discipline or equivalent qualification (desirable)

Interview Process:


Candidates will be invited to attend a competency-based interview at our HMS Stonebridge Office.
