Mears Group is delivering a long-term social housing repairs and maintenance partnership across the wider Midlands region.

Providing housing repairs and maintenance services across a geographically diverse social housing portfolio covering market towns rural communities and urban locations the contract includes responsive repairs planned maintenance and property services with a strong focus on customer service quality and community investment.

Due to continued growth across the contract opportunities are available for experienced Gas Supervisors across South Worcestershire North Gloucestershire and surrounding areas.

About the Role

Your role will involve supervising and managing the day-to-day delivery of gas servicing repairs breakdowns and installations across the clients housing stock. You will oversee a team of Gas Operatives and subcontractors ensuring all work is completed safely compliantly and to a high standard. The role is focused on ensuring gas appliances and installations are safe for continued use protecting residents members of the public client personnel and Mears employees from potential gas related risks.

Role Responsibilities

  • Tomonitorand control the work & drive the Health & Safety culture within both the team assigned & the gas team.
  • Tomonitorprogress and completion of works from the Operatives and Subcontractors through the MCM system to achieve the KPI requirements of the Client.
  • Assistyour team in delivering a comprehensive gas maintenance and installation service within domestic premises
  • Ensure all work is carried outin accordance withrelevant regulations standards and departmental procedures
  • Hold current domestic ACS certification or equivalent in the required categories of gas work
  • Complete andmaintainall paperwork and electronic data records related to the work carried out
  • Confirm job completion and ensure a comprehensive andaccuratehistory is available for audit purposes
  • Maintain records that support quality assurance health and safety compliance and invoicing accuracy
  • To work with other gas supervisors & other operational gas team members for the purpose of learning from each other to uplift the knowledge & skills of the team.
  • Tomonitorengineers existing stock and the collection of materials as and whenrequiredto meet works ordersin accordance withstandard operating procedures forpurchasingand van stock control compliance
  • To carry out informal and formal meetings and training sessions to ensure up to date business and job knowledge communication skills & progression aremaintained. This includes but is not limited to training re-training toolbox talks 1:1s probation reviews etc.
  • Toparticipatein call out coverwhenrequiredto ensure contract compliance & service user satisfaction for emergency repairs

Key Criteria

  • Experience in the above duties
  • Qualified to City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Gas Installation and Maintenance
  • Hold valid ACS certification (e.g. CCN1 CENWAT CKR1 HTR1)
  • Line managementexperience
  • Good understanding of electrical safe isolation and basic wiring principles
  • Knowledge of current gas safety legislation and compliance standards
  • Experience working in social housing or local authority environments (preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices
  • Flexible and willing to travel across properties and attend out-of-hours callouts
  • Full UK driving licence
