About the role:

This is a 12-month fixed term role at the William Morris Gallery Walthamstow. As Gallery Trainee you will contribute to the day-to-day operations around the collections and exhibitions and provide basic administrative and practical support to the Curatorial Team.

The role will benefit from being part of a small multidisciplinary team and have regular contact with the Curator to support your learning and development.

We are a Home Officelicensed sponsor; however for this specific role we are not able to provide Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. To be considered you must already hold a form of UK work authorisation that does not require sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake display collections care duties. Ensure objects on display are clean and free of dust. Undertake basic repairs to gallery interactives. Pack/unpack objects in collections store
  • Provide basic technical and administrative support for the development of exhibitions.
  • Invigilate visiting researchers in collections store and library
  • To provide technical support for collections and exhibitions
  • Data entry into forms and templates relating to object loans and exhibitions
  • Data entry for collections management database.
  • Provide administrative and in person support for events and gallery activities eg registration of guests
  • To respond to the climate emergency

Qualifications and Requirements:

To be considered for this position you should meet the following requirements:

Knowledge Skills and Experience
An interest in museums and galleries
Able to work as part of a team as well as on your own
Good overall knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads and achieve
deadlines.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Numerate and accurate with attention to detail

English and Math Qualification
Relevant NVQ Level 1 or 2 qualification
