Finance Manager Financial Control

What youll be doing

As a Finance Manager Working Capital at Boots Opticians you will play a crucial role in our Controllership team reporting directly to the Financial Controller. This hands-on position involves managing debtors creditors and cash flow ensuring robust financial management and compliance across the Opticians business. You will collaborate with key stakeholders and support a small team driving efficiency and process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee accurate reporting of debtors and creditors during month-end close.
• Manage cash balances and bank reconciliations for precise reporting.
• Prepare cash flows and assist with financial forecasts.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the offshore R2R team.
• Ensure compliance with VAT regulations through monthly return reviews.
• Act as Subject Matter Expert for NHS income streams.
• Collaborate with O2C and P2P teams as needed.
• Support the external audit process for your area of responsibility.
• Identify opportunities for process efficiencies through automation.

What youll need to have (our must-haves)

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
• Strong understanding of finance systems and processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical mindset.
• Ability to manage a diverse workload and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication skills for effective stakeholder collaboration.
• Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting.
• Leadership and line management experience

It would be great if you also have

• Minimum of two years PQE in financial accounting or management accounting.
• Experience with SAP and Power BI.
• Knowledge of VAT submissions in partial exemption environments.
• Familiarity with US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
• Experience dealing with auditors and NHS revenue streams.
