Job Summary

Hours: 37 hours any additional hours to accommodate the needs of the business

The Field Care Supervisor is responsible for supporting Care Professionals to deliver safe high-quality person-centred care. Acting as the organisations eyes and ears in the field the Field Care Supervisor ensures clients needs are fully met while Care Professionals feel confident competent supported and valued in their roles.

The Field Care Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining quality safety and consistency of care delivery supporting staff development and retention and working closely with the Care Manager to ensure a positive experience for both clients and Care Pros.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting Quality Care in the Field
  • Provide visible support to Care Pros working in the community
  • Monitor the quality of care delivered to clients through observation spot checks and direct engagement
  • Ensure care is delivered in line with care plans risk assessments and organisational standards
  • Act promptly on any concerns relating to care quality client wellbeing or safety escalating appropriately

Competency Assessment Training & Development

  • Carry out competency assessments and signoffs in line with policy and best practice including (but not limited to):
  1. Medication administration
  2. Moving and handling
  3. Catheter care
  4. Any additional specialist competencies required
  • Hold and maintain relevant assessor qualifications to carry out competency signoffs safely and effectively
  • Work closely with the Care Manager and the Trainer to support learning development and ongoing competence
  • Identify training needs through field observation provide feedback and contribute to Care Pro development plans

Care Professional Support Mentoring & Retention

  • Provide mentoring and reassurance to Care Pros in the field
  • Support Care Pros to build confidence skills and professionalism
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for Care Pros listening to concerns and providing guidance
  • Contribute to improved staff engagement and retention through consistent support and relationship-building

Delivering Care Where Required

  • Deliver care directly to clients where required including:
  1. Providing cover in emergency or short-notice situations
  2. Supporting assessments reviews or transitions
  • Role-model best practice in person-centred care

Supporting the Operations Team

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients their families and other professionals involved in their care.
  • Conduct Service Reviews and Quality Assurance calls and manage follow up actions
  • Create maintain and audit digital client care plans and risk assessments
  • Support the Care Manager by identifying changes in client needs risks or opportunities for improvement

Governance Safety & Professional Practice

  • Maintain accurate timely records of competency assessments observations and actions taken
  • Follow safeguarding incident reporting and escalation procedures
  • Comply with relevant legislation regulatory standards and internal policies
  • Act in line with organisational values professionalism and ethical standards

Reporting & Working Relationships

  • Direct reporting line: Registered Care Manager
  • Line manager to Care Professionals

Qualifications :

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience providing care within a domiciliary care setting
  • Understanding of person-centred care safeguarding and risk management
  • Competence in medication moving and handling catheter care and other specialist care areas
  • Relevant Assessor qualifications (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong communication coaching and mentoring skills
  • Ability to work independently while remaining connected to wider teams

Desirable

  • Experience in a supervisory senior carer or mentoring role
  • Familiarity with regulatory inspection frameworks (e.g. CQC)
  • Experience supporting staff retention and engagement initiatives
