About the Role

As a Field Service Engineer youll be responsible for supporting customers across the Stoke-on-Trent area with regular travel to customer sites throughout Stoke-on-Trent Crewe Manchester (south of the city) Sheffield and surrounding customer locations. This is a field-based role where youll install commission calibrate maintain and repair industrial weighing and process instrumentation equipment.

This role offers a high level of trust and autonomy. Youll take ownership of your assigned territory and customer visits while also working alongside fellow engineers on larger installations heavy lifting activities and more complex service work when required.

Location & Territory

This is a home-based position covering the Stoke-on-Trent region of the UK. To provide effective customer support candidates should ideally be located within or close to the Stoke-on-Trent area enabling travel across the assigned territory including Crewe Manchester (south of the city) Sheffield and surrounding customer sites.

About the Team

Youll join a field service team of approximately 15 engineers working across the UK. Engineers manage their own territories and daily workload while working closely together whenever additional support is needed. Larger installations and more complex service activities are often completed as a team creating a collaborative environment where knowledge sharing and mutual support are part of everyday work.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled calibration commissioning and breakdown support for industrial process weighing systems at customer sites.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on weighing equipment balances and associated systems.
  • Install commission and calibrate belt weighing systems boiler leak detection systems and related equipment.
  • Calibrate process instrumentation including temperature pressure conductivity and pH equipment.
  • Complete service reports calibration certificates and all required documentation before leaving customer sites.
  • Deliver a professional customer-focused service while building strong relationships with customers.
  • Work independently across your assigned territory while collaborating with colleagues on larger installations and complex service activities when required.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with NOV Health Safety Environmental and Quality standards.
  • Attend technical training and support activities at NOV facilities when required.
  • Travel throughout the assigned territory including occasional overnight stays where business needs require.
  • Participate in occasional Saturday working to support customer requirements when operationally necessary.


Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

Education

  • Time-served Engineer.
  • ONC or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.

Experience

  • Previous field service experience involving calibration commissioning or servicing of industrial process weighing equipment.
  • Experience diagnosing faults across a range of weighing systems including balances and platform scales.
  • Experience working independently at customer sites.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory including occasional overnight stays.

Technical Skills

  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Mechanical and electrical service experience.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and apply practical engineering solutions.
  • Commitment to working safely and maintaining high quality standards.

Personal Skills

  • Strong customer focus and professional communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage your own workload.
  • Collaborative team player with a willingness to support colleagues when required.
  • Eagerness to learn new products technologies and calibration disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HNC in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • Experience calibrating process instrumentation including pressure temperature conductivity or pH equipment.
  • Experience working with flow meters or other industrial instrumentation.
  • Experience within food manufacturing or other industrial process environments.
  • Broader experience of industrial process control systems.
