Work Environment This position is crucial in the healthcare system as Mental Health Care Assistants play a vital role in helping individuals manage their mental health conditions and improve their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care: Provide personal care and support to patients including assistance with daily living activities such as eating bathing and dressing.
Therapeutic Engagement: Engage with patients in therapeutic activities to promote recovery and alleviate distress. This includes identifying factors that may increase agitation and employing de-escalation techniques when necessary.
Monitoring and Reporting: Observe and document patients conditions including any changes in behavior or mood and report these to the nursing staff.
Supportive Environment: Create a safe and compassionate environment for patients ensuring their dignity and privacy are respected at all times.
Collaboration: Work alongside a multidisciplinary team including nurses psychiatrists and social workers to implement care plans and support patients effectively.
Crisis Intervention: Recognize signs of distress or crisis in patients and respond appropriately to ensure their safety and well-being.
Required Qualifications
Experience: Previous experience in a care roleexperience with dementia brain injury and nursing home is desirable
Certifications: Holding a Care Certificate or equivalent is typically desirable.
Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Cheerful compassionate respectful and caring approach and have good communication and interpersonal skills.
Good understanding of the needs of vulnerable adults and the desire to make a positive contribution to the lives of others.
Ability to work on own initiative
