Job Summary

3 months contract with a Local Authority

Umbrella - 20.73 per hour - Umbrella

Job Purpose

As a Family Support Worker you will work alongside Social Workers to support vulnerable children young people and families where there are safeguarding child protection and family support needs. You will provide direct intervention supervise family contact sessions support parenting capacity and help families achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.

Key Duties/Accountabilities
  • Deliver direct support and intervention to children young people and families.
  • Supervise family contact sessions and record observations.
  • Support children subject to Child Protection Plans and safeguarding interventions.
  • Assist families at risk of breakdown and help maintain family stability.
  • Support the safe return of children to family care where appropriate.
  • Work alongside Social Workers to implement agreed care and support plans.
  • Complete assessments observations written records and reports.
  • Encourage parents and carers to develop skills and confidence in meeting their childrens needs.
  • Promote safeguarding and child welfare at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with schools health professionals probation and partner agencies.
  • Participate in Team Around the Family (TAF) arrangements.
  • Manage an allocated caseload effectively.
  • Provide transport to children and families when required.
  • Undertake home visits community-based work and family support interventions.
  • Work flexibly including occasional evenings and weekends where required.
Essential Experience Required
  • Experience supporting children young people and families.
  • Experience within Family Support Childrens Services Early Help Youth Work Family Intervention or Social Care.
  • Experience working with safeguarding and child protection processes.
  • Experience completing observations assessments and report writing.
  • Experience managing challenging family situations.
  • Experience working alongside Social Workers and multi-agency professionals.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable families.
  • Understanding of child development and child-focused practice.
Essential Qualifications Required
  • Relevant experience within Childrens Services Family Support Social Care Youth Support or related settings.
  • Enhanced DBS.
  • Ability to travel across Worcestershire.

  • Working hours: 18 hours per week.
  • Flexible and remote working arrangements available.
