Family Solicitor (Matrimonial)

Location: Bury

Salary: 44000 (circa dependent on experience)

Experience: 2 years PQE

Our client is looking to appoint a Family Solicitor (2 years PQE) to join their specialist family team working closely with the Managing Partner and Head of Department alongside a highly experienced and supportive paralegal.

You will inherit a small but ongoing good-quality caseload with the majority of work focused on finances arising from divorce and separation plus some private Children Act matters.

The team has a long-standing reputation and benefits from repeat instructions and recommendations. The practice is privately funded and does not undertake legal aid work.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Managing a caseload of private family matters primarily financial remedy work
  • Advising clients on divorce and separation including associated financial issues
  • Handling private Children Act matters as required
  • Preparing and drafting key documents including pleadings statements and orders
  • Managing disclosure and pre-application protocol requirements
  • Instructing and liaising with experts and counsel when needed
  • Attending and supporting hearings including FDA FDR and interim applications (advocacy where required)
  • Working to billing recovery and target expectations with a commercial and organised approach
  • Supporting marketing and business development activity including events organised by the Business Development Manager

What Were Looking For

  • A qualified Solicitor with 2 years PQE in private family law
  • Strong experience in financial remedy work including procedure and drafting
  • Comfortable working to deadlines targets and high client-care standards
  • Confident drafting a wide range of family documents including orders statements and agreements
  • Experience (or working knowledge) of:
  • Part 25 expert instruction (pensions forensic accountants surveyors)
  • Maintenance pending suit and interim applications
  • Variation applications
  • Disclosure requirements and pre-application protocol
  • Court bundles (Part 27A) and interlocutory applications
  • Pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements
  • Private Children Act experience is beneficial including procedure negotiation and drafting
  • Family Law Act injunctions experience is beneficial (non-molestation and occupation orders)
  • A genuine interest in progressing towards Resolution accreditation in financial remedy and private children work

Working Arrangements
