An excellent and well-established secondary school in Bedford is looking for an experienced Facilities Assistant to join its premises and facilities team.

The successful candidate will support the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the school site and help ensure facilities are safe functional and ready for staff and pupils.

• Supporting daily site operations.

• Carrying out routine building inspections.

• Completing minor repairs and maintenance.

• Supporting basic plumbing and DIY tasks.

• Assisting with room setups and furniture moves.

• Maintaining external areas and grounds.

• Supporting deliveries and storage.

• Assisting contractors on site.

• Reporting defects and maintenance issues.

• Supporting health and safety checks.

• Assisting with fire safety procedures.

• Monitoring the condition of school facilities.

• Supporting school events and activities.

• Previous experience working within a school facilities premises or caretaking team is essential.

• Practical maintenance experience.

• Previous educational-sector experience.

• Understanding of school health and safety procedures.

• Reliable and proactive approach.

• Ability to work independently.

• Good communication skills.

• Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
