Environmental Health Officer
Job Summary
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Bromley to assist with the appointment of an Environmental Health Officer on a6.5-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: 27.14 - 35.83 per hour
Summary:
The Environmental Health Officer will be responsible for enforcing housing standards investigating housing complaints regulating Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and undertaking licensing activities including the regulation of Mobile Home Sites.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate housing-related service requests and complaints in accordance with divisional procedures and statutory requirements.
- Undertake proactive and reactive inspections of residential properties to identify housing hazards and unsatisfactory housing conditions.
- Enforce housing legislation through the preparation service and monitoring of statutory notices and legal actions where necessary.
- Regulate and administer HMO licensing and housing standards functions
- Undertake specific responsibilities relating to the licensing and regulation of Mobile Home Sites.
- Provide advice and guidance to tenants landlords residents businesses and stakeholders regarding environmental health and housing legislation.
Qualification:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Health or a related discipline.
Essentials:
- Strong working knowledge of Environmental Health legislation particularly in private sector housing housing standards nuisance and enforcement.
- Experience investigating complaints and applying relevant environmental health legislation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently use initiative and manage a varied workload.
- Strong organisational and case management skills
