About the role
Working pattern: This is a full-time post working 35 hours.Werecommitted to supporting staff to achieve a healthy work-life balance and are happy to talk about flexible working. This is a hybrid role working from Holyrood and from home.

The Application Team delivers innovative solutions and services to support the work of the Parliament and is made up of around 28 staff.

This is an exciting time to be part of the team and youll work on a broad portfolio of projects delivering a dynamic digitally enabled Parliament. Our Digital Services team is proud to have won an award for developing the bespoke digital voting application which enabled hybrid parliamentary business to continue during the pandemic. This enabled the transformation of the voting system for MSPs.
We work in an Agile DevOps environment and provide structured training and development. We offer our teams certification opportunities and will support you to develop your skills.
Our teams are made up ofArchitecture and Design User Research Development BusinessAnalysis andTesting and were currently in the discovery phase formultiple new projects as well as continuing with our Cloud migrationof on-premise applications.
About you
As an Entry Level Developer you will:
- be contributing to the development implementation and unit testing and support of software solutions and services
- actively collaborate with colleagues in response to developing services with a user-centric approach
- be working collaboratively with architectsdevelopers and business analysts youll be making a positive contribution to the team
- work with the team to help identify opportunities to improve on current working practices and deliver effective and efficient business focused solutions
Youll encourage a culture where your team members are empowered to deliver high-quality work which will enhance the reputation of the Parliament. Youll also champion collaborative working with colleagues across the parliamentary service promoting positive and open communication as well as our commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Youll demonstrate a high level of personal credibility with excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships.

Stage 2
If your application is successful youll be invited to attend a virtual interview. As part of the interview process youll be asked to provide a presentation details of which will be provided prior to interview. Interviews will be held on w/c 26 October 2026 although this is subject to change.
Offers will be awarded based on merit. For this role the following weighting is used to come to a final score on which offers will be based. Application 20% Presentation 20% Interview 60%.
