English Teacher Role in a Sixth Form College

A successful Sixth Form College in Nottingham is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable English Teacher to join its established English department from September. About the Role

The successful candidate will teach English across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 delivering engaging and academically challenging lessons that inspire students to develop a deeper appreciation of language and literature.

Students study a broad curriculum including English Literature English Language literary analysis creative writing and examination preparation. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level qualifications while developing their ability to analyse texts construct arguments and communicate ideas effectively.

You will also contribute to the wider life of the college through academic mentoring reading initiatives debating literary societies theatre visits and enrichment opportunities that extend students learning beyond the classroom.

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification

  • Experience teaching English at secondary or post-16 level

  • Ability to teach GCSE and A-Level English confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in English Literature and Language

  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level English Literature and/or English Language

  • Experience supporting university preparation or academic enrichment

  • Ability to contribute to wider literacy initiatives

  • A proven track record of delivering strong student outcomes
