English Teaching Role in a Secondary School

A well-established secondary school in Southampton is seeking to appoint an English Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a supportive and ambitious school that values literacy creativity and high-quality teaching.

About the Role

You will teach English across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 delivering engaging and well-structured lessons in both English Language and English Literature.

Students will study a wide range of texts including Shakespeare modern prose poetry and non-fiction while developing skills in analysis interpretation creative writing and extended essay writing.

You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English examinations supporting them in building confidence with exam technique critical thinking and written expression.

You will work collaboratively within a successful English department committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.


Key Responsibilities
  • Teach English across KS3 KS4 and KS5

  • Deliver lessons in English Language and English Literature

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching English at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level English

  • Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
