A well-established secondary school in Sheffield is seeking to appoint an English Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a supportive and ambitious school that values literacy creativity and high-quality teaching.

English is a highly regarded subject within the school with students encouraged to develop strong reading writing analytical and communication skills. The department has a strong track record of excellent GCSE and A-Level outcomes.

You will teach English across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 delivering engaging and well-structured lessons in both English Language and English Literature.

Students will study a broad range of texts including prose poetry drama Shakespeare modern literature and non-fiction while developing analytical thinking creative expression extended writing and critical interpretation skills.

You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English examinations supporting them in building confidence with essay writing textual analysis interpretation and exam technique.

You will work collaboratively within a successful English department committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.

• Teach English across KS3 KS4 and KS5

• Assess student work and provide clear constructive feedback

• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Experience teaching English at secondary level

• Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

• Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature

• Strong classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

• Experience teaching A-Level English

• Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations

• Ability to contribute to literacy or enrichment activities
