An outstanding secondary school in Middlesbrough is seeking to appoint an English Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a high-performing and supportive school that places strong emphasis on literacy academic excellence and high-quality teaching.

English is a highly successful subject within the school with students developing strong skills in reading writing analysis and spoken communication. The department has a strong track record of success at GCSE and A-Level.

You will teach English across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 delivering engaging lessons in both English Language and English Literature.

Students will study a broad range of texts including prose poetry drama Shakespeare and non-fiction while developing analytical thinking creative expression and extended writing skills.

You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English examinations supporting them in building confidence with interpretation essay writing and exam technique.

You will work collaboratively within a successful English department to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.

• Teach English across KS3 KS4 and KS5

• Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations

• Assess student work and provide clear constructive feedback

• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Experience teaching English at secondary level

• Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

• Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature

• Strong classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

• Experience teaching A-Level English

• Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations

• Ability to contribute to literacy or enrichment programmes
