English Teacher Role in a Multi-Academy Trust School

About the Role

The successful candidate will teach English across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons that inspire students to develop a lifelong appreciation of literature and language.

Students study a broad curriculum that includes Shakespeare modern and classic literature poetry drama creative writing and language analysis. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English Literature and English Language examinations while encouraging confident communication critical thinking and independent learning.

You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through literacy initiatives book clubs debating competitions theatre visits creative writing workshops and enrichment opportunities that encourage students to engage with English beyond the classroom.


Key Responsibilities
  • Teach English across KS3 KS4 and KS5

  • Deliver engaging well-planned and differentiated lessons

  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English Literature and Language examinations

  • Develop students reading writing analytical and communication skills

  • Assess progress and provide high-quality constructive feedback

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

  • Support literacy initiatives and extracurricular enrichment activities

  • Inspire students to develop confidence and a passion for English

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching English at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in English Literature and Language

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level English Literature and/or English Language

  • Experience leading literacy or reading initiatives

  • Ability to contribute to debating drama or creative writing activities

  • A proven track record of delivering excellent student outcomes
