A high-performing Comprehensive School in Leeds is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join its successful English department from September. The successful candidate will teach English across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 delivering engaging and inspiring lessons that develop students reading writing analytical and communication skills.
Students study a broad curriculum including Shakespeare modern and classic literature poetry drama creative writing and language analysis. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English Literature and English Language examinations while encouraging independent thought and a lifelong love of reading.
You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through literacy initiatives book clubs theatre visits debating competitions creative writing workshops and enrichment activities.
Teach English across KS3 KS4 and KS5
Deliver engaging and well-planned lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English examinations
Develop students reading writing and analytical skills
Assess progress and provide high-quality feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support literacy initiatives and extracurricular activities

Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching English at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in English Literature and Language
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level English
Experience leading literacy initiatives or enrichment activities
Ability to contribute to debating or creative writing programmes
A proven track record of delivering excellent student outcomes
