A highly regarded Grammar School in Brighton is seeking to appoint an inspiring and dedicated English Teacher to join its successful English department from September. The successful candidate will teach English across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 delivering engaging lessons that inspire students to develop a passion for literature language and communication.
Students study a rich curriculum covering classic and contemporary texts poetry drama creative writing and analytical skills. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English Literature and English Language examinations while encouraging them to think critically express ideas confidently and develop a lifelong appreciation of reading and writing.
You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through debating creative writing clubs literary events theatre visits reading initiatives and enrichment opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom.
Teach English across KS3 KS4 and KS5
Deliver engaging challenging and well-structured lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English Literature and Language examinations
Develop students reading writing analytical and communication skills
Assess progress and provide high-quality constructive feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support enrichment activities reading programmes and literary events
Foster confidence creativity and a passion for English

Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching English at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in English Literature and Language
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level English Literature or Language
Experience leading literacy debating or creative writing initiatives
Ability to contribute to wider enrichment programmes
A proven track record of delivering strong student outcomes
