The successful candidate will teach English across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 delivering engaging and challenging lessons that develop students reading writing analytical and communication skills.
Students follow a broad curriculum including Shakespeare modern and classic literature poetry drama creative writing and language analysis. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English Literature and English Language examinations while encouraging critical thinking creativity and a genuine appreciation of English.
You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through literacy initiatives reading programmes debating creative writing activities theatre visits and enrichment opportunities that extend students learning beyond the classroom.
Teach English across KS3 KS4 and KS5
Deliver engaging challenging and well-planned lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English Literature and Language examinations
Develop students literacy analytical and communication skills
Assess progress and provide high-quality feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support literacy initiatives and extracurricular activities

Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching English at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in English Literature and Language
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level English Literature and/or English Language
Experience leading literacy or reading initiatives
Ability to contribute to debating drama or creative writing activities
A proven track record of delivering strong student outcomes
