We are looking for an experienced Hygiene & Engineering Manager to lead the night shift engineering and hygiene functions within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving food safety engineering performance compliance and continuous improvement while ensuring operational excellence and audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the Hygiene and Engineering teams during night operations ensuring high standards of safety compliance and performance.
Oversee planned engineering activities equipment reliability and rapid resolution of technical issues to minimise downtime.
Deliver the site hygiene programme ensuring compliance with BRCGS customer and food safety standards.
Manage hygiene validation including ATP testing swabbing allergen controls and cleaning verification.
Lead health and safety initiatives risk assessments incident investigations and permit-to-work compliance.
Drive continuous improvement through KPI analysis root cause investigations and cost control across labour chemicals and utilities.
Act as the senior site manager during night shifts supporting operational decision-making and emergency response.
Requirements
Proven leadership experience in Engineering Hygiene or Operations within an FMCG or food manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of BRCGS HACCP food safety legislation hygiene management and engineering best practices.
Experience leading large teams and delivering measurable improvements through KPIs and continuous improvement methodologies.
Excellent communication problem-solving and leadership skills.
Minimum HNC in Engineering.
HACCP Level 3 Food Safety Level 3 and IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent) are desirable.
