A supportive school in Dudley is seeking a practical and reliable DT Technician to join its Design & Technology department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong practical skills who can support teachers and students with workshop activities equipment and resources.
Previous experience as a DT Technician Workshop Technician or in a similar practical environment.
Good practical knowledge of tools machinery and workshop equipment.
Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a wider department.
A proactive approach to preparing resources and supporting practical lessons.
Experience working in a school or education environment would be advantageous.
The successful DT Technician will work closely with teaching staff to ensure practical lessons are well prepared and workshops are maintained to a high standard. You will support students during practical activities while helping teachers deliver an effective and engaging DT curriculum.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing materials tools and equipment for practical lessons.
Supporting teachers and students during workshop activities.
Maintaining cleaning and organising tools and machinery.
Monitoring stock and ordering materials when required.
Carrying out basic maintenance and repairs where appropriate.
Ensuring workshops are safe clean and well organised.
Following relevant health and safety procedures.
Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the DT department.
