A well-established Good secondary school in Stevenage is seeking a practical organised and enthusiastic DT Technician to join its Design & Technology department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a practical background who enjoys working with tools materials and machinery and wants to play an important role in supporting students learning.
A current/recent Stevenage DT Technician vacancy highlights the need for someone who can prepare equipment and materials support practical lessons maintain workshops and follow health and safety procedures.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to ensure that workshops and classrooms are fully prepared for practical activities. You will provide technical assistance to teachers and students while helping maintain a safe organised and productive working environment.
This is a varied hands-on position covering the day-to-day technical requirements of the DT department. You will prepare tools and resources before lessons assist students and teachers during practical activities maintain equipment and ensure workspaces are left clean and ready for use.
The role would suit someone with experience in a workshop manufacturing construction engineering or educational environment. Previous school experience would be beneficial but is not essential where you can demonstrate strong practical skills and an understanding of workplace safety.
Prepare tools machinery equipment and materials for DT lessons.
Support teachers and students during practical activities.
Maintain workshops classrooms and preparation areas.
Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs where appropriate.
Ensure tools and equipment are stored safely and correctly.
Monitor stock levels and order or replenish resources when required.
Maintain accurate records of equipment and consumables.
Assist with setting up and clearing away practical lessons.
Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
Support the safe use of workshop machinery and equipment.
Help maintain a clean organised and effective learning environment.
Assist with displays exhibitions and student projects.
Report faults or maintenance issues promptly.
Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff.

You should have:
Previous experience in a technician workshop engineering manufacturing or practical role.

Experience within a school DT department and relevant health and safety qualifications would be advantageous.
