The Role

A fantastic opportunity has become available for an ambitious and creative Design & Technology Teacher to join a secondary school in St Albans. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching DT across KS3 and KS4 helping students develop their practical technical and design skills.

The successful teacher will be expected to deliver a varied curriculum that allows students to work through the design process from developing initial concepts through to producing and evaluating finished products. The ability to deliver practical lessons safely and effectively will be essential.

You will join a department that encourages students to become independent thinkers and problem-solvers. Lessons should provide students with opportunities to experiment with materials develop their technical knowledge and apply theoretical concepts to practical projects.

The school is looking for a teacher who can build strong relationships with students and create an environment where pupils are encouraged to be creative and take pride in their work. This role would be particularly suited to a DT Teacher who enjoys practical teaching and wants to help students develop skills that extend beyond the classroom.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Design & Technology Teacher able to teach at KS3 & KS4

  • Relevant DT Design or Engineering qualification

  • Formal teaching qualification with QTS such as a PGCE

  • Strong practical and technical knowledge

  • Ability to manage practical lessons and maintain high safety standards

  • Effective classroom management and communication skills

  • Legal ability to work within the UK
