Design & Technology Teaching Role in a Secondary School

A well-established secondary school in Wolverhampton is seeking to appoint a Design & Technology (DT) Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a supportive and ambitious school that values creativity innovation and high-quality teaching.

Design & Technology is a highly regarded subject within the school with students encouraged to develop practical skills problem-solving abilities and technical understanding through engaging project-based learning.


About the Role

You will teach Design & Technology across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 delivering engaging practical and theory-based lessons that inspire creativity innovation and technical confidence.

Students will explore areas such as Product Design Resistant Materials Engineering Graphics and design processes while developing practical making skills CAD/CAM understanding and evaluative thinking.

You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level/Level 3 DT qualifications supporting them in building strong practical design and analytical skills.

You will work collaboratively within a successful department to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.


Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Design & Technology across KS3 KS4 and KS5

  • Deliver engaging practical and theory-based DT lessons

  • Prepare students for GCSE and post-16 DT qualifications

  • Maintain high standards of workshop health and safety

  • Assess student work and provide clear constructive feedback

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

  • Support STEM and enrichment opportunities

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Design & Technology at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching KS5 DT qualifications

  • Specialism in Product Design Resistant Materials Engineering or Graphics

  • Experience preparing students for GCSE and post-16 examinations

  • Ability to contribute to STEM or enrichment programmes
