An outstanding school in Northampton is seeking to appoint an innovative and enthusiastic DT Teacher to join its successful department from September. This is a full-time role within a high-achieving and supportive school that values creativity practical problem-solving and exceptional teaching.

Design & Technology is a highly regarded subject within the school with students encouraged to develop technical knowledge creativity and critical thinking through a broad and engaging curriculum.

You will teach Design & Technology across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 delivering engaging and hands-on lessons that inspire innovation and technical confidence.

Students will study areas such as product design resistant materials engineering principles graphics and CAD/CAM while developing practical making skills and design-thinking approaches.

You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level/Level 3 DT qualifications supporting high-quality coursework and strong academic outcomes.

You will work collaboratively within a successful department committed to maintaining outstanding standards of teaching and learning.

• Teach Design & Technology across KS3 KS4 and KS5

• Deliver engaging practical and theory-based DT lessons

• Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level/Level 3 DT qualifications

• Support coursework and practical project development

• Maintain safe workshop environments and procedures

• Assess student work and provide clear constructive feedback

• Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

• Support STEM and design enrichment opportunities

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Experience teaching Design & Technology at secondary level

• Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

• Strong subject knowledge in DT specialisms such as Product Design Resistant Materials or Engineering

• Strong classroom and workshop management skills

Desirable

• Experience teaching A-Level or Level 3 DT

• Experience working in an outstanding or high-achieving school

• Ability to contribute to STEM or extracurricular activities

• Experience using CAD/CAM or modern workshop technologies
