Job Summary
We require an inspiring industry-focused Design & Technology (DT) Teacher to deliver outstanding technical and practical instruction across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. Operating within an innovative employer-led 1419 technical academy the successful candidate will specialize in delivering a product design engineering and manufacturing curriculum that bridges academic theory with industrial application preparing pupils thoroughly for modern engineering careers higher apprenticeships and technical or academic public qualifications.

Contextualized & Technical Instruction: Plan resource and deliver high-quality design material science and engineering lessons mapping theoretical principles directly to modern industrial workflows manufacturing systems and commercial briefs.
CAD/CAM & Industry Standard Prototyping: Train pupils to an elite technical standard in utilizing advanced design software and automated machinery (including CNC routers laser cutters and 3D printing matrices) building exceptional precision in physical prototyping.
Qualification & Project Optimization: Guide Key Stage 4 and post-16 examination cohorts meticulously through the rigorous demands of technical coursework portfolios material theory terminal papers and vocational product designs maximizing progress metrics.
Scaffolding Design Literacy: Identify and target learning barriers across a diverse intake of students joining at Year 10 deploying explicit command-word coaching visual blueprint modelling and structured workshop safety guides to support all learners while stretching advanced technical designers.
Professional Mentorship & Pastoral Care: Fulfil personal tutor responsibilities for a dedicated cohort of students managing workplace readiness routines supporting professional wellbeing and maintaining proactive communication with families and industry mentors.
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching credential paired with a strong honours degree in Product Design Engineering Architecture or a closely related technical discipline. Relevant industry manufacturing or design workshop experience outside of education is highly valued.
Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress metrics across both academic design specifications and technical/vocational engineering pathways through structured workplace-contextualized pedagogy.
