Design & Technology Teacher Faith Secondary School in Peterborough

A well-regarded Faith Secondary School in Peterborough is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and creative Design & Technology Teacher to join its established department from September. The Role

The successful teacher will deliver Design & Technology across KS3 and KS4 with the opportunity to teach KS5 where appropriate. You will plan and deliver a combination of practical and theoretical lessons helping students understand the full design process from initial concept through to manufacture and evaluation.

The department covers a range of disciplines and welcomes teachers with expertise in Product Design Resistant Materials Engineering Graphics or related areas.

You will encourage students to experiment with materials and processes while developing their ability to analyse problems generate ideas produce high-quality outcomes and evaluate their work effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Design & Technology across KS3 KS4 and KS5 where appropriate

  • Plan and deliver engaging practical and theory lessons

  • Prepare students for GCSE and relevant post-16 examinations

  • Develop students technical creative and analytical abilities

  • Support students with coursework and extended design projects

  • Maintain high standards of health and safety within workshops

  • Monitor progress and provide meaningful feedback

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental initiatives

  • Support DT enrichment competitions and extracurricular projects

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Design & Technology at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong knowledge of practical and theoretical DT

  • Excellent classroom management skills

  • Strong understanding of workshop health and safety

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching DT at KS5

  • Experience delivering GCSE Design & Technology

  • Specialism in Product Design Resistant Materials Engineering or Graphics

  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM and modern manufacturing processes

  • Experience supporting extracurricular DT activities
