Wayman Education is seeking an enthusiastic dynamic and passionate teacher of drama to join a creative and vibrant performing arts department at an exceptional secondary school in Steyning. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to deliver inspiring practical and theoretical drama lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 with the potential for Key Stage 5 delivery for an appropriately qualified candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Plan prepare and deliver high-quality engaging drama lessons that inspire and challenge students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

• Develop innovative schemes of work that balanced practical performance skills with the study of dramatic texts and practitioners.

• Assess track and report on student progress and attainment in line with exam board specifications providing constructive feedback to support development.

• Support and contribute to the schools extra-curricular performing arts program including school productions clubs and theatre visits.

• Maintain high expectations for student behavior and achievement cultivating a safe inclusive and collaborative studio environment.

Requirements

• Qualifications: Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS alongside a degree in drama theatre studies or a closely related discipline.

• Experience: A proven track record of teaching drama within a UK secondary school setting (including successful ITT/PGCE placements).

• Skills: Exceptional subject knowledge confident classroom management and the ability to inspire students of all abilities and backgrounds.

• A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
