Front-to-Back Investment Services
Owns the front-end analysis that turns an emerging business need into a clearly defined well-understood piece of work with the outcome scope and rationale established before delivery begins.
Tech Solutions is MUFG Investor Services technology organisation reporting to the CTO. Its structured around five solution domains each accountable for its own roadmap budget and outcomes. Within this structure the role serves as a specialist analytical and subject-matter-expert resource aligned to the Fund Trading BPO & Debt Services domain while remaining deployable across domain boundaries as business priorities require.
The role brings deep investment-data and front-to-back operations expertise to the early stages of complex change translating requirements into practical solution designs and taking responsibility for the hands-on configuration of trade booking pre-trade compliance cash flow forecasting and liquidity position-keeping reconciliation shadow NAV and valuation. These capabilities underpin the service MUFG provides clients across front middle and back office which is why the role is accountable for building and finalising that configuration itself not just defining it.
Beyond the domain itself the role contributes to the wider Tech Solutions organisation by building training material artefacts and knowledge-sharing forums embedding this expertise more broadly and reducing dependency on any one person.
What youll do
- Act as the domain SME and analytical lead for our front-to-back investment services capability spanning trade booking pre-trade compliance cash flow forecasting and liquidity position-keeping reconciliation and valuation and the systems and processes behind it.
- Bring deep knowledge of order and trade management workflows IBOR/ABOR accounting shadow NAV and valuation including complex or non-standard asset classes such as private credit private equity and structured products to the front-end shaping of solutions.
- Conduct front-end analysis of complex work feasibility operating-model implications data quality and readiness going directly to the data and systems yourself using SQL and AI tooling rather than waiting for others to provide answers.
- Own the configuration of our investment data systems directly: build and finalise configuration including scripting and query-based logic where needed in test and sandbox environments through to a working production-ready answer and decide when its ready to be promoted. A dedicated engineering function then takes it through SDLC into live use and maintains it there.
- Collaborate across stakeholder groups to define and document business requirements and work alongside Solution Owners at the front end of complex work to shape intent and acceptance criteria for the parts that carry the most complexity.
- Translate in both directions representing technical limitations and implementation realities back to business stakeholders and business intent back to engineers.
- Own the working relationship with our technology providers product and implementation teams and represent this capability at senior governance forums as the senior point of contact for it.
- Identify risks a delivery team would not otherwise see data gaps downstream impacts operational-readiness concerns and regulatory implications and partner with Integration Quality Engineers on cross-team test scenarios that no single team can cover.
- Support adoption readiness where value realisation depends on more than the build communications training data clean-up and operational change.
- Build training material and run engagement forums that upskill relevant roles elsewhere in MUFG in this area so this expertise doesnt depend on any one person.
- Recognise patterns across the business area recurring themes overlaps and opportunities for reuse feeding roadmap shaping and maintain supporting product documentation such as system overviews and use cases.

Qualifications :
Required
- 10 years of experience in investment operations fund administration or asset-servicing technology with substantial exposure to trading order management position-keeping or portfolio accounting systems.
- Hands-on configuration experience within investment data or portfolio accounting systems comfortable working through APIs configuration tools and data models directly not just functional specifications.
- Strong SQL and database querying skills and working exposure to at least one programming or scripting language (such as Python) used to build and verify configuration directly rather than through a technical intermediary.
- Strong working knowledge of order and trade management workflows pre-trade compliance cash flow forecasting and liquidity management position-keeping IBOR/ABOR reconciliation and valuation across standard and complex asset classes such as private credit private equity and structured products.
- Substantial experience gathering analysing and documenting business requirements and translating them into clear solution intent and acceptance criteria.
- Ability to model business processes and produce analytical artefacts such as process models use cases procedural guides and scenarios.
- Strong analytical judgement knowing what to look at what to ignore and when analysis is good enough to act on.
- Credibility with both business and technical stakeholders with the ability to hold a view under questioning including in senior governance settings.
- A track record of owning delivery risk on implementations that mattered not just executing tasks on someone elses plan.
- Expert proficiency in Excel and Word.
Preferred
- Experience delivering front-to-back investment services spanning trade booking cash management or shadow NAV through a technology-enabled operating model including configuring or extending the underlying systems yourself.
- Familiarity with industry messaging and data standards such as FIX SWIFT or FpML.
- Working knowledge of core accounting mechanics cost basis P&L tax lots corporate actions and other instrument lifecycle events.
- Breadth across more than one client operating model asset class or technology environment is also relevant and welcomed.
- Prior experience owning a technology provider relationship or acting as an organisations primary point of contact for a business-critical system.
- Experience creating training material or leading enablement and upskilling initiatives across a wider organisation.
- Experience of platform implementation configuration or migration projects.
- Exposure to AI-assisted analysis and discovery tooling.
