Unit Function | DIO OS&Trg SW is to deliver and develop safe and sustainable training areas and facilities in order to support the endorsed and contingent training requirements of Defence. |
Position Role | The TSM is responsible for ensuring the application of safe place in accordance with JSP 375. The post holder is responsible for the monitoring of dry training and all-arms manoeuvre training. They are responsible for ensuring the estate capacity is used to its full potential in his capacity as the intelligent supplier. They must have the correct military experience in order to be able to apply the appropriate management and oversight of all dry training activity. |
Responsibilities | |
1. COMPLIANCE. Participate in the assurance process of the safe place in accordance with JSP 375. 2. SET STANDARDS. Brief and advise users on safety procedures and conduct of training as appropriate to the Safe Place. Provide training advice and support to ensure optimum use of the training estate and enable users to achieve optimal training benefit. 3. MANAGE. Management and oversight of all dry training ensuring all activity is in accordance with Defence Regulations and SPTA Range Standing Orders. Must be aware of current doctrine and operational policies. Must be capable of adopting an authoritative stance with a unit who are compromising safe place. 4. SUPPORT. Assist in the management of OME in accordance with DSA Part 2. Contribute to the conduct of trials and/or tests of explosive substances and/or articles; certify Free from Explosives; and supervise explosive safety. 5. SUPPORT. Be prepared to support and co-operate with SPTA management on the use of all training facilities and projects including delivering the unit brief. Be familiar and compliant with SPTA Range Standing Orders and local policies. Be prepared to conduct the role of Duty Officer over a 7 day period when required. 6. COMMUNICATE. Where necessary mediate between units who have not come to a satisfactory conclusion during deconfliction of facilities and/or any tenant farmer issues. Maintain and enhance professional working relationships with landowners conservation groups local government and civilian stakeholders to foster good public relations. Be able to communicate in manner that is compliant and respectful. 7. CONTRIBUTE. Ensure units are compliant with environmental and sustainability measures on SPTA and be prepared to support any incidents within SPTA. 8. DEVELOP. Be prepared to operate on any area/part of SPTA in accordance with the Commanders intent; this will allow all staff to gain experience of all of SPTA. |
