An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced ambitious and forward-thinking Diagnostic Imaging Manager to lead and develop Diagnostic Imaging Services across Fulwood Hall Hospital Euxton Hall Hospital and Buckshaw Hospital.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for the operational clinical governance workforce quality and commercial performance of all imaging services across three hospitals. You will lead Radiology Ultrasound Mammography MRI and CT services ensuring the delivery of safe effective responsive and patient-centred care whilst driving innovation business growth and operational excellence.

About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Clinical Operations you will provide professional clinical and operational leadership for Diagnostic Imaging Services across multiple sites.
You will be accountable for ensuring the safe efficient and high-quality delivery of imaging services whilst leading strategic development and service improvement initiatives that support both patient outcomes and business performance.
The role encompasses responsibility for:
- General Radiology / Plain Film
- Ultrasound
- Mammography
- MRI/CT
- PACS and RIS administration
- Imaging governance and quality assurance
- Radiation protection and IR(ME)R compliance
- Workforce planning and development
- Financial and commercial performance
- Service transformation and business growth
- CQC readiness and quality improvement

Key Responsibilities
Clinical and Operational Leadership
- Lead the day-to-day operational management of diagnostic imaging services across all three hospitals.
- Ensure safe effective and responsive imaging services across all modalities.
- Drive service efficiency productivity and utilisation of imaging equipment and workforce.
- Monitor and improve performance against activity waiting time reporting and quality measures.
- Ensure robust business continuity arrangements for imaging services.
- Standardise pathways protocols and operating procedures across all sites.
- Support consultant practice and optimise diagnostic pathways to enhance patient experience and access.
Governance Quality and Regulatory Compliance
- Provide leadership for diagnostic governance and patient safety.
- Ensure compliance with IR(ME)R radiation protection requirements and professional standards.
- Lead imaging quality assurance programmes audits and risk management processes.
- Oversee investigation of incidents complaints and patient safety concerns.
- Maintain regulatory compliance and inspection readiness.
- Ensure services are prepared for internal audit external review and CQC inspection.
Leadership and People Management
- Lead motivate and develop multi-disciplinary imaging teams.
- Foster a culture of accountability compassion inclusion and continuous improvement.
- Support recruitment retention and workforce development.
- Deliver effective succession planning and talent management.
- Promote staff engagement wellbeing and professional development.
Commercial and Service Development
- Identify and deliver opportunities for business growth and service expansion.
- Improve utilisation of imaging assets and workforce capacity.
- Develop and monitor diagnostic service business plans.
- Support equipment investment planning and service transformation.
- Optimise referral pathways and consultant engagement.
- Monitor financial performance revenue capture and cost efficiency.
What Were Looking For
Essential Criteria
- BSc in Diagnostic Radiography.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Significant senior-level clinical experience within diagnostic imaging.
- Proven experience managing diagnostic imaging services across multiple imaging modalities.
- Strong operational leadership and workforce management experience.
- Demonstrable experience managing budgets and resources.
- Experience leading service redesign quality improvement and change management initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of IR(ME)R radiation protection legislation and imaging governance requirements.
- Experience of incident management clinical governance audit and risk management.
- Experience driving performance against operational and quality KPIs.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with consultants radiologists and clinical teams.
- Ability to lead and influence teams across multiple sites.
Desirable Criteria
- Management or leadership qualification.
- Postgraduate qualification within a specialist imaging modality.
- Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) qualification.
- Knowledge of CQC regulatory requirements and inspection frameworks.
- Experience implementing Quality Standard for Imaging principles.
- Experience developing new diagnostic services and expanding imaging capacity.
- Experience in commercial planning business growth and demand-capacity modelling.
- Experience leading transformation programmes within NHS or independent healthcare settings.
