Wayman Education is currently seeking a reliable and proactive Design & Technology (DT) Technician to join an Outstanding secondary school in Tower Hamlets.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced workshop/DT technician or a practical individual with a strong technical background looking for a flexible part-time schedule. You will be working closely with the DT department to ensure the smooth running of practical lessons maintaining equipment and preparing workshop materials for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students.

• Department Support: Prepare tools machinery timber metals plastics and other raw materials for practical DT and Resistant Materials lessons.

• Maintenance & Safety: Carry out routine maintenance and servicing of workshop equipment tools and machinery; maintain clean and hazard-free workshop spaces.

• Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to school health and safety guidelines COSHH regulations and risk assessments.

• Stock & Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels of department materials place orders when necessary and ensure correct storage of supplies and chemicals.

• Classroom Assistance: Assist subject teachers during practical sessions and support students with technical apparatus where needed.

• Previous experience as a DT Technician Workshop Assistant or a strong technical/practical background (e.g. carpentry engineering or product design).

• Sound knowledge of workshop health and safety practices and machinery operation.

• Strong organizational communication and time-management skills.

• An active Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to undertake a new check).

• Availability to work 3 days a week (5 hours per day) starting ASAP.
