Job Summary

A creative secondary academy in Liverpool (L postcodes accessible from City Centre Sefton and Knowsley) is seeking an innovative and safety-conscious Design & Technology Teacher to join its technical faculty for an immediate (ASAP) start.

Job Overview

The school places high value on design innovation practical engineering and technical problem-solving. The successful candidate will teach Design & Technology across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE / Vocational) covering Resistant Materials Product Design and CAD/CAM software techniques.

Working alongside experienced DT specialists you will guide pupils through the complete design cyclefrom initial research and 3D modeling to workshop manufacturing and final testing. This is a full-time ongoing or permanent role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach engaging practical and theoretical Design & Technology lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4

  • Train and supervise students in the safe operation of hand tools workshop machinery laser cutters and 3D printers

  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety standards COSHH regulations and CLEAPSS/DATA workshop guidelines

  • Guide Key Stage 4 pupils through their Non-Exam Assessment (NEA) practical coursework portfolios

  • Serve as a Form Tutor contributing to the pastoral framework and student tracking within your year group

  • Manage workshop material inventories and equipment maintenance in collaboration with department technicians

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognized UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT)

  • Honors degree in Design & Technology Product Design Industrial Design or Engineering

  • Valid certification for machine safety and secondary workshop machinery operation (DATA / CLEAPSS)

  • Proficiency with digital design software (e.g. 2D Design Fusion 360 SolidWorks)

  • An active enhanced DBS on the Update Service
