Our client is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Design & Technology Teacher to join a successful secondary school in St Albans from September. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about practical education and enjoys encouraging students to combine creativity technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.

The successful candidate will join an established Design & Technology department and will be expected to deliver engaging lessons across the relevant key stages. The school is looking for someone who can create a positive classroom environment while maintaining high expectations of students practical work technical understanding and behaviour.

Design & Technology is an important part of the schools curriculum with students encouraged to develop their ability to design evaluate manufacture and refine their ideas. The successful teacher will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of pupils and contribute to the continued development of the department.

Responsibilities:

The successful Design & Technology Teacher will be expected to:

• Plan and deliver stimulating Design & Technology lessons

• Teach across KS3 and KS4 as required

• Develop students practical and theoretical understanding

• Introduce pupils to a range of design processes materials and techniques

• Encourage creativity experimentation and independent thinking

• Support students in developing and refining their own design ideas

• Assess practical work and written assignments

• Prepare students effectively for examinations and assessments

• Maintain high standards of health and safety within practical lessons

• Ensure specialist equipment and resources are used appropriately

• Adapt teaching to accommodate different abilities and learning needs

• Contribute to departmental planning and curriculum development

• Work closely with colleagues to share effective teaching approaches

The Ideal Candidate:

The school would like to hear from teachers who are enthusiastic about Design & Technology and who can inspire students to take pride in their practical work.

You should have strong subject knowledge good classroom management skills and the ability to establish positive relationships with pupils. Experience of teaching within a secondary school environment is desirable.

Experience and Qualifications:

• Qualified Design & Technology Teacher

• QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification

• Strong subject knowledge

• Experience teaching DT at secondary level

• Ability to teach at KS3 and KS4

• Good classroom management skills

• Commitment to high standards of teaching and learning

• ECTs are welcome to apply

• Overseas-trained teachers with appropriate qualifications may be considered

• Legal ability to work within the UK
