A well-established secondary school in Shrewsbury is seeking to appoint a Design & Technology (DT) Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a supportive and ambitious school that values creativity innovation and high-quality teaching.
Design & Technology is a highly regarded subject within the school with students encouraged to develop technical understanding problem-solving abilities and practical skills through engaging project-based learning.
You will teach Design & Technology across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 delivering engaging practical and theory-based lessons that inspire creativity innovation and technical confidence.
Students will explore areas such as Product Design Resistant Materials Engineering Graphics and design processes while developing practical making skills CAD/CAM understanding and evaluative thinking.
You will prepare students for GCSE and post-16 DT qualifications supporting them in building strong practical technical and analytical skills.
You will work collaboratively within a successful DT department committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.
Teach Design & Technology across KS3 KS4 and KS5
Deliver engaging practical and theory-based DT lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and post-16 DT qualifications
Maintain high standards of workshop health and safety
Assess student work and provide clear constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support STEM and enrichment opportunities

Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Design & Technology at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching KS5 DT qualifications
Specialism in Product Design Resistant Materials Engineering or Graphics
Experience preparing students for GCSE and post-16 examinations
Ability to contribute to STEM or enrichment programmes
