In this role you will perform the Deputy UK Nominated Officer function and lead the L2/L3 UK Nominated Office Team. Operating under delegated authority from the UK MLRO you will review complex financial crime investigations and make recommendations to the UK Nominated Officer regarding Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) Defence Against Money Laundering (DAML) requests and decisions not to file

Reporting to the Head of Operations / AFC Birmingham Lead you will provide leadership oversight and subject matter expertise across the Nominated Office function supporting the UK MLRO and Nominated Officer in meeting the Banks legal and regulatory obligations. The role is critical to ensuring effective AML governance high-quality investigations robust regulatory compliance and the mitigation of financial crime risk across Deutsche Bank UK.

Your key responsibilities

  • Undertake the role of UK Deputy Nominated Officer under delegated authority from the UK MLRO reviewing complex investigations and providing recommendations to the UK Nominated Officer regarding SAR filings DAML requests and decisions not to file.

  • Lead and develop the UK Nominated Office (L2/L3) Team ensuring high-quality investigations consistent decision-making and delivery against regulatory obligations.

  • Review complex financial crime investigations and provide clear risk-based recommendations to the UK Nominated Officer acting as the primary escalation point for significant sensitive or high-risk AML/CTF matters.

  • Support the UK MLRO and DMLRO in meeting regulatory legal and governance requirements including engagement with internal audit regulators and relevant governance forums.

  • Provide expert guidance challenge and oversight to investigators and stakeholders ensuring high investigative standards and sound risk-based outcomes.

  • Deliver management information trend analysis and recommendations to senior AFC leadership while driving continuous improvement across Nominated Office processes and controls.

Your skills and experience

  • Significant experience in AML financial crime investigations compliance legal law enforcement or regulatory environments preferably within financial services.

  • Strong knowledge of UK AML legislation SAR reporting obligations POCA TACT and wider regulatory expectations.

  • Proven experience conducting complex AML investigations and developing well-reasoned risk-based recommendations relating to suspicious activity assessments SAR filings and regulatory escalations.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience including managing coaching and developing high-performing teams within a regulated environment.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with experience engaging senior management Compliance Legal AFC Advisory and regulatory bodies.

  • Strong understanding of transaction monitoring financial crime typologies investigative methodologies and financial crime control frameworks.

  • Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity optimise workflows to solve business problems while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs
