Deputy Head Strategy, National Armaments Logistics & Support (NA-L&S)
Job Summary
The DH Strategy is the National Armaments Logistics & Support (NA-L&S) lead for the Support Function Strategy (SFS) aligned with: the Functional Framework; NAD Gp Strategy; Strategy for Defence; and the Integrated Plan. The post informs and supports all other Strategy activity on behalf of the Chief of Defence Logistics & Support (CDLS) including input into strategic activity led by other Quad Areas and any additional internal Strategy required by NAL&S.
Responsibilities:
- Development management and future evolution of the SFS to respond to set CDLSs vision and strategy for the pan-Defence Function reflecting the ambition of Defence Reform.
- Working collegiately with DH Fn Delivery to develop the Defence Support Operating Model informing choices in governance performance management strategic risk management and adapting to organisational and structural changes recommended.
- Ensuring that the strategy and Operating Model are coherent and that linkages to wider Departmental changes are coherent.
- Ensuring strategy development is cognisant of and informed by all aspects of Support pan-Defence particularly the evolving Materiel pillar in the National Armaments Group which impact upon the Defence Support Network.
- Acting as the intellectual heart of the Support Function developing and evolving the approaches needed to achieve the outcomes of the SFS.
- Liaising between the NA-L&S DoS MSHQ Military Commands and the wider NAD Group on strategic support matters.
- Delivering strategy briefs and presentations to senior logistics staff subordinate organisations and allies.
- Providing input on policy/strategy/performance development and implementation to the NAD CDLS MSHQ ACDS (Sp Ops) and the NA-L&S Senior Leadership Team to support 4* 3* and 2* meetings and committees.
Dep Hd Strategy isaccountable to Air Cdr Cole as the Head of the Support Function. The 2RO is currently CDLS but will change to an appropriate 2* post once the NA-L&S Structure has been established.
