Are you experienced within woodworking and looking for the opportunity to take on more responsibility within a busy manufacturing environment
This is a permanent opportunity for a Woodshop Department Supervisor to join an established UK manufacturer supporting the day-to-day running of a busy workshop and helping to maintain strong standards across quality safety and production.
Previous supervisory experience would be beneficial but isnt essential. Were equally interested in hearing from experienced woodworking professionals who have strong practical knowledge and are ready to take the next step into a team leadership position.
What youll be doing
As Woodshop Department Supervisor youll work closely with the Department Manager combining hands-on workshop involvement with responsibility for supporting the team and keeping production running efficiently.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the day-to-day running of the woodshop department
- Helping the team achieve daily and weekly production requirements
- Organising work areas materials and workloads to keep production flowing
- Helping allocate team members across different work areas
- Prioritising work in line with production schedules and customer requirements
- Supporting and training new starters within the department
- Ensuring finished work meets the required quality standards
- Leading by example and maintaining high standards across the workshop
- Promoting safe working practices and good housekeeping
- Ensuring machinery and equipment are used correctly and maintained appropriately
- Raising any equipment or maintenance concerns when required
- Identifying practical solutions to production or workflow issues
- Supporting continuous improvement across quality efficiency and workshop organisation
- Carrying out weekly stock checks and communicating material requirements
- Supporting performance reviews and identifying additional training requirements where needed
What were looking for
This position could suit an experienced Woodshop Supervisor Workshop Supervisor or Team Leader as well as somebody with a strong woodworking background who is ready to progress into their first supervisory position.
Youll ideally have:
- Strong previous woodworking experience within a workshop manufacturing or production environment
- Good practical knowledge of woodworking processes tools and equipment
- The confidence to support train and guide other team members
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to keep work flowing effectively
- A good understanding of workshop safety housekeeping and equipment care
- Strong attention to detail and pride in the quality of finished work
- The confidence to deal with problems and make practical decisions on the shop floor
- Good communication skills and the ability to work positively with different members of the team
- A reliable approach and willingness to lead by example
- The ability to work in a hands-on role rather than purely supervising from a distance
Previous supervisory or team-leading experience within woodworking furniture manufacturing joinery assembly or a similar workshop environment would be advantageous but applications are also welcomed from experienced woodworking candidates looking to step up.
Pay hours and contract:
Youll receive between 15.00 and 17.85 per hour depending on your experience.
This is a permanent position working day shifts within a well-established manufacturing environment.
